Eucaliptus tea can actually be brewed from the leaves of the tree. Remembering all the warnings about ingesting the toxic concentrated oil, a tea is specifically a dilution of the oil. Eucaliptus tea can be very helpful for bronchitus like symptoms, asthma or colds with a lot of mucous in the chest passageways.
Inhaling the aroma of the eucaliptus tea takes the fumes into the lungs and helps tame the inflammed tissue and break up mucous as an expectorant. Since eucaliptus is an antiseptic also, the vapors from the tea may help fight infection. Use one teaspoon of dried herb or 2 teaspoons of fresh herb in one cup of water, boil, then simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, strain and take this 3 times a day.
